The prototype Suzuki GT750 was shown at the 17th Tokyo Motor Show in October 1970 and launched in Japan in September 1971 as a sports tourer (GT standing for Grand Tourismo) and was developed from the Suzuki T500 with an extra cylinder and liquid cooling. Marketed as the Le Mans in the US and Canada, it was nicknamed the Kettle in Britain. The GT750 was heavy at 550 lbs, with a 739cc two stroke three cylinder engine with 70 x 64mm bore and stroke. It had a five-speed gearbox and three into four exhaust. The first model year 1972, the GT750J, had a double sided, twin-leading shoe, 200mm drum front brake with 180mm drum rear. The Exhaust Coupler Tube System ECTS that connected the left and right side exhausts together was designed to boost low end torque. Carburetors were 32mm Mikuni slide type and power output was 67bhp at 6500 rpm. Two color schemes were offered in most markets with North America getting three. Just put together from scratch, frame-up restore for riding. Once over bore fresh top end was done previously. But the motor was rebuilt from bottom up this time. This is running for only the second time after rebuild with only minor carb tuning. So it's running cold at first and then warm by the end. As you can see it's ready to go! Restoration of vehicles is about the details, here is a helpful tip to anyone with a 1982-1983 Suzuki RM250. If spacers are not used between the radiator fairing and radiator, the fairing will be too close to the tank and rub on it. Over time vibration will cause the fairing to cut into the gas tank making a groove. Eventually it could cause the tank to leak, bad, very bad. I'm selling these spacers on ebay, user mshade2000. I had just finished the restoration of this very rare motorcycle in Indonesia today on December 29 2008, and this is the first trip i take with this bike, my 4th GT100 project in Bali. After putting 1 litre of petrol mixed w 2stroke oil, it starts without problems and has a good pull. People stare in the street as they probably never have seen this bike before. My plan is to bring my 4 restored GT100 motorcycles to Norway, where they are very popular among collectors. </p>
