@GBJ83 most flips are safe, but a full face is safer. if you really want a flip helmet, then stick with the top brands, otherwise get a full face so you don't have to worry about safety issues. last thing you want is to be uncomfortable or worry while on the bike. cheers, S

@gubbedagain No, it's not complete nonsense. You're overreacting. And frankly making a big deal out of it. It's just a simple safety feature. A normal flip helmet will open whether the visor is down or up. The Evo will flip up only if the visor is up. That's a safety feature. What you think has zero relevance to this design feature.

@beemerkay No sorry complete nonsense, there is no way that the visor being down is going to stop the force of an impact from dislodging the chin bar and if you think it is then I'm amazed. I'm not trying to flame you but you are being completely unrealistic.

I have one of these series 2 helmets and I do really like it but I know it's weaknesses, there is no way that the visor is stopping the chin bar from opening in an impact, none whatsoever, so it's no safety feature at all.

@gubbedagain it means when in a crash, there is no chance of chin bar popping open by accident. assuming when you are riding the bike, you have the visor down. the flip helmets typically don't rate as safe as full face with the consumers, because a hard hit to a specific part of a chin bar may cause it to open. Hence a good idea on Shark's part to add this safety feature.

you'll need to explain why the chinbar not opening without the visor being open is a great safety feature ????
