My VadoHD Helmet Camera Setup
Here's how I made my motorcycle helmet camera setup. Camera is a Creative Vado HD. Sorry for how hard it is to see the black camera against the black shirt. I knew the lighting was bad, which is why I used a flashlight, but I didn't realize it was that hard to see until I uploaded. Also, thanks to SailorMeff for giving me the idea of putting a pocketcam inside my helmet! www.youtube.com

Have you heard or tried VirtualDub with Deshaker plugin to help stabilize the shaky videos coming from hand held video cameras? If so, could you do a tutorial on how to use it, specifically with the Vado HD? If not, you should check out the video comparisons of before and after using VirtualDub with the Deshaker plugin here on youtube. You may want to use them for your videos.
is this the 2nd gen Vado HD? If so, is it compatible with windows 7? Can you load directly to youtube after using the built in editing software?
no one cares about the reasons, you bought your helmet for…
@clem2098 Thanks
No, I didn't do anything extra, it fits as is. I can see how some helmets might have this issue, though. The front of my helmet isn't that curved, but it's still enough that sometimes it has trouble sticking like you mentioned. You'll probably want to play around with ways to extend the velcro out a little more to counteract the curvature of the helmet and make better contact, but I'm not sure the best way other than just stacking layers of velcro together. Good luck!
@JPOnion…I am having trouble with the curve of the front of my helmet and the flat camera front to stick together. Did you do anything besides just plastering the front of the camera with velcro? Thanks and like your videos.
I own a VadoHD camera myself, and I really like it a lot. I have never needed another battery, but they are available if ever needed. I have never attempted a 2 hour video, my video's are about 10 or 15 minutes or so.
Haha "Hey choose a lane asshole!"
if anyone wants to know how to import the h.264 avi into windows movie maker to edit then and save to hd with no quality loss message me.
I will definitely switch over to a VadoHD when I get back to this. The Mino HD also overheats!
Great stuff. I've been rocking the normal vado for quite some time now with essentially the same setup. I just recently purchased a digital camera to have a different setup to take video and pictures whenever I want. Maybe I'll get the Vado HD in the future because the quality is great, not that expensive off ebay, and I already have my helmet modified for that camera.
Thanks for the shout out. I can deffinitely see the influence on your setup.
I got your comment notification on my iPhone and maybe 10 minutes later had purchased a Vado HD off of eBay.
This spring SailorMeff will be riding in HD.
Ride fast and take chances.
