Fine and dandy, but what happens when you ride at night and you have a few cars with their lights on behind you? In a car you can flip the mirror to keep the lights off your face, but I'm assuming that feature is not included in this helmet.
Nice idea! Questions include what additional weight, additional aerodynamic drag with strain on neck, leak potential, fogging potential and Snell certification.
Talk about safety, but they're on the wrong side of the road!
The mirror seems to limit your long range forward vision – doesn't meet Australian Standards anyway – so you wont see it in Australia any time soon
@aric126 Furthermore, it's not at all like a car's rear view mirror; with the helmet on, the mirror follows your head's every move, so it's always there, no matter where you turn your head to. Anyway I think I could get used to it in no time; it's not hard to solve the problem of exceedingly bright headlights – or the sun – behind you: perhaps some optical filter, of something like that, to cover the lens and make light dimmer.
@ncc1701xx
Is she that ugly?
I've been riding for over 35 years & it looks like a great Idea but what happens when carrying a pillion? I"d hate to have to be staring my missus in the face while out for a ride
@Rainb0wSeven lol no, cuz i cant see my nose
@aric126
Your nose is close to your face; does that distract you? -_-
@Rainb0wSeven i dont know, ive never driven a car i only ride, but i imagine that it would be distracting because its much closer to your eyes and in your smaller range of sight so its harder to ignore something annoying like those ultra bright headlights some ppl have i mean sometimes i have to bow my elbows out just so they block my normal mirrors when i got someone like that behind me, not hatin the idea, just the way its designed..
@aric126
Do you get distracted by having a rearview mirror in your car? – No, of course you don't. So why would you think that you'd be any more distracted by having one in your helmet? -_-
The Reevu is a great idea; I'll be getting one as soon as they are released here.
I'm in the US. I want one of these! Can I order online?
its cool but i like the idea of a camera in the back and small good quality screen in the front, for 2 reasons, so you can turn it off when you get bright-ass headlights behind you at night, and it seems safer that having a hollow area in your helmet that could structurally weaken it, and Im a rider myself, and checking my mirrors isnt that bad to begin with and the image could be dangerously distracting, watching your rear too much, and not see whats in front of you, so Im undecided on this one
@mongrelchild probably wont get DOT certified, because it would have to have a hollow area to allow for the mirror, so it would be weaker, but they could try to solve this problem
Awesome!!!! Put some nice graphic design & they'll be selling a lot of the helmets.!! Best helmet design ever!!!
@CaptainLaconic
I was thinking the same thing
Captain Laconic: Less so than your mirrors. The lense in the back diffuses light just like the rear view mirror in your car. Also it appears that the front mirror you look into can be adjusted.
Great, until it gets dark and you get some twat with misaligned headlights behind you… you'll have the glare permanently in your field of vision.
Pure genius!
When will the helmet get DOT certification?
Where will it be available for sale?
Neat idea.
Awesome!!! No more goddamn vibrating crappy images from my mirrors!
in the vid it looked like the view was in the way of your forward view. I suppose you could look up, but would that mean you'd be looking down behind you?
But as a concept it looks good.
@Liberator2 The one and only.
@blunderbuss1960 can you tell me where did you bought it from? i live in uk , i just passed my test and i would like to buy the helmet but i dont know where from.thanks
